And you have a symbian phone, able to play music to you …
You can now use your phone to learn another language …

for this to work, you will need iTunes in your computer, and you will need to subscribe to some podcasts (unfortunately they are inside iTMS so you can not subscribe to them directly from your cell phone)

and after it, you will need to synchronize your Cell phone with your iTunes in your PC …

when All this is set-up, you just need to subscribe to some Podcasts …

Windows Live Messenger for S60v3

I just found in the Darla Mack weblog a very good Windows Live Messenger Client for my N80,
it has almost the same “Look And Feel” that the desktop client has.
take a look at this screenshots …

It does not have many customization options, nor it has all the features of AgileMessenger, but it is free, works very well and looks great :D

I do not know who is the original developer, but thanks for them, for the great app.
PS.: thanks to Darla too for hosting the app.

Do you want to edit office documents on your S60v3 device?

All S60v3 devices that I know about come with QuickOffice viewers bundled, this is a great combo application that enables you to view .doc, .xsl and .ppt files, bt does not allow you to edit this files.
Ok, I know, at least for the N-Series (as my N80) that does not have a full keyboard in it, it is not very easy to write full documents …
But I think this offer is a great opportunity for every one, I just found at QuickOffice site, that if you want to buy now the QuicoOffice 4 Beta, you will pay only U$4,99 …

take a look at the description of the new version bellow:

Quickword® v4
Enables table and image viewing, insertion, and editing, along with the ability to view full page-layouts that include headers, footers and details on page size, orientation and margins in Word documents
Quickpoint® v4
Allows users to edit all text, insert tables, resize and reorder images, view and edit text comments within PowerPoint files
Quicksheet® v4
Offers advanced function support and complex number, date, time and text formats for Excel spreadsheets
Quickmanager® v4
An in-application tool that allows users to access valuable product updates and upgrades
Plus, you will also receive
File Manager v4

Provides an advanced file manager for efficient folder navigation and seamless, easy management of all the office documents maintained on your smartphone

I just got my copy :D

YAPAIP (Yet Another Post About iPhone)

Ok, I know that every one else has already wrote a post about the new buzz Apple iPhone.
yes, we have to tell Apple iPhone because there is already other iPhone around there …
but the purpose of this post is to talk about what I think about it, even if I have never touched it before …
I just loved the design of that thing, but I can not like very much a smart phone with a closed platform, and Steve Jobs told that just Apple would be able to create new apps for it.
But if I forget this little thing, the iPhone seems to be a great toy, with a very low battery time :D

unfortunately I do not think it will be in Brazilian’s market untill 2009 :(

New blogger and new theme

I have just upgraded this blog to the new blogger beta.
with it I just picked up a new template too!

I just did not figured out how to configure correctly the feedburner feed flares to work, and how to remove that link bellow to the standard feed :(

but it is plenty of new features …
Thinking about using the “Custom Domain”, but just if I can write interesting enough posts to triplicate the readers , I have today only about 40 readers a day (can some of the other symbian bloggers place a link to this blog? thank you a lot!).

Thanks for all you who came here some times :D

Do not know what you use your N80 for Ask the "Log" Application.

There is a great boundled application in the N80 phone, you can find it in the “My Own” folder.

it’s name is “Log”, there you can find all the numbers you called, all calls you received, all the Wi-Fi connections, all the GPRS connections, video calls, …

It is a really good application, but it has one huge problem, I could not find a way to export that log to any other formar.

It would be great to be able to export it and read it’s information in a desktop app (to sumarize and save the history of what you spent).

The other problem is that you can only store a month of log (this problem will be solved with the previous option available).

Any of you know if there is any way to save that log?

Thanks you very much :D

Yahoo! Go 2.0 beta just launched.

Yahoo just launched Yahoo! Go 2.0, it is in beta yet, but different from the first version, now they support lots of cellphones and you does not need to have an account in one of the supported operators you can download the application directly from yahoo (Great News for N80 owners like myself, no more distinction from us the the N80ie owners).

I was planing to post a full review for the application today, but when I was going to download it using my N80 browser, Yahoo! just showed a page telling me that tie beta was full, but they have an option for you to let your mobile phone number and they will tell you when you can go back there and download your copy of Yahoo! Go.

so lets wait a little and see how long will it take …

Backup all your contacts + schedule + tasks for free

In the last post I wrote about a way to synchronize your Google Calendar with your mobile phone, but some times it is not enough!
there is another free online service that you can use to edit your contacts/calendar/tasks online and sync it with your mobile phone using SyncML too.
its name is:

with mobical you have a online PIM that you can sync with your mobile phone.
I used to use plaxo for it, but plaxo just sync with outlook and I`m changing my desktop to Linux so I`ll not have outlook anymore, this two posts are a research for an option :D

Pros:
Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes and Bookmarks online
Free service
Sends an SMS message with all the configuration for supported phones (N80 included)

Cons:
Sometimes it duplicates a contact entry, but it just happens in the first sync, after that all goes OK.
I could not sync notes and bookmarks with my N80
(it seems that the SyncML from N80 does not supports this databases)

I like a lot this service, and I`m testing the synchronization with Evolution on linux too, if it goes well mobical will be my choice for online PIM (if GooSync could sync my contacts with gmail it would beat mobical at least for me :D )

Google Calendar + Symbian = Perfect Match

I just found this weekend a very cool online service that allows you to synchronize your mobile schedule with your Google Calendar Account.

It works using SyncML, so it is not only for Symbian, but it works perfectly in my N80.
you can create Calendar items in your cell phone or in the web interface and sync them all with no problem …

Pros:
perfectly synchronization between your calendar and your google calendar.
free service
£9.95 subscription for more features than the free version
The next versions should support multiple calendars
Google Domain support

Cons:
Support only calendar (no tasks or contacts)

I think the service is great, is you like the idea, click on the above link and give it a try.
